Dressed to Impress.....
...the Cricut Circle, that is. I used reward points from My Coke Rewards to purchase skins for my cell phone and netbook. I used my avatar from the cricut circle website to dress them up. There is a website, http://www.skinit.com/, that you can design your own skin to go on cell phones, laptops or netbooks. This is what I came up with....

Lexi's new outfit....
I got an awesome Singer sewing machine on clearance at Walmart. So, I decided to try it out. This is the first time I have ever sewn anything. Walmart has these cute little outfits that have everything you need to make an outfit and they are only $9. I figured it would be worth trying so, here is little Miss Alexis modeling her new outfit....

Tinkerbell Cake...again...
Last week I made a practice Tinkerbell Cake. This week I made the one that really counts. This one is going to my husband's work for a fellow employee's birthday. The picture doesn't show all the bling. The entire top of the cake has a fine edible glitter that sparkles, Tink's dress and shoes have green edible glitter, the wings and puff balls on the shoes also sparkel. It is my fourth cake made with the Cricut Cake. It has become a new hobby for me. Compare it to the picture from last week and let me know what you think....

Tinkerbell Cake...
This is the third cake that I have made using the Cricut Cake. It is not as good as a professionally decorated cake by any means but, I am still learning. I forgot to spray the purple on before I added the decorations. I really wanted the purple "air brushed" look so, I sprayed a little on when I realized I didn't do it. You can't really see it in the picture but, the wings have edible pearl dust. It also has some pearl dust all over the top of the cake. On tink's shoes I used gumpaste balls. They also have pearl dust. I'm not as happy as I thought I would be with it. I do plan to do it again next weekend. This one was for practice. Next weekend I will be making one that my husband will be bringing to work. I am really nervous. I have never made a cake for anyone other than my family. This one will be for a birthday at his work. I am hoping it comes out better that this one.

Cricut Cake.....
Two weeks ago I made my first cake using the Cricut Cake to decorate it. There is definitely a learning curve. I used the frosting sheets that came with it. I didn't have the correct colors for tinkerbell so I used food coloring to color the different parts. I didn't like the frosting sheets at all. It was very difficult to cut them without tearing the design. I used a buttercream frosting that had cream cheese in it. It was hard to make it smooth. You can tell in my picture.
Here is a picture of my first cake....
Here is a picture of my first cake....
Today, I decided to try again. I made a different buttercream frosting which was easier to work with. I still didn't get it perfectly smooth but it is much better than the first try. I used gum paste to cut out the decorations. I love using gum paste. It was much easier to us and to cut with the Cricut Cake. The hard part was coloring it. I think that took me the longest.
Here is my second cake...
I had fun doing this cake. I definitely recommend the gum paste for cutting shapes with the Cricut Cake. This is definitely a new venture for me and I am learning as I go so feel free to tell me what you think, give me suggestions or tips that may help. Thank you for looking. I look forward to hearing your input.
